WINTER IS COMING!

Excuse the Game of Thrones reference but the nights are drawing in and there is now a definite chill in the air. Perhaps a welcome relief to some after the wonderful and prolonged summer this year!

December is now not far off and the Town Council will again be running its Christmas event on Saturday, 8 December from mid-day to 5PM at the Community Centre. Father Christmas will be the star attraction, along with stalls, free tea cup rides for the toddlers and other attractions. I am particularly looking forward to the hog roast!

Work has started on an Early Years Centre near Church Lane, which is a much needed facility with the influx of so many families. Similarly, plans for an extension to the Wellington Academy are also progressing well.
Parking in St Andrews Road and St George’s Road has become a real problem recently, despite the “no waiting at any time” now in place in St Andrews Road. I have been in contact with the Garrison, Aspire, the police and Wiltshire Council’s parking enforcement teams. The irresponsible parking on these roads not only make it difficult for buses to use these roads, it would also be difficult for emergency vehicles too. It does not bear thinking of the consequences if such vehicles were delayed in life-threatening situations because of the parking situation. That said, the Garrison are opening a gate to camp to provide some additional parking and Wiltshire Council parking enforcement will be patrolling the area.
