About Paul
I was born in South Dorset but my parents soon moved to a farm near Gillingham in North Dorset. I went to school in Gillingham and during this time I helped my Dad on the farm. After gaining my O Levels and 3 A Levels, I was accepted at Bradford University to study Pharmacy. Going from a very rural area in the South to a large Northern city was quite a cultural shock but I soon made friends and enjoyed my time at Bradford. As I was studying a sandwich course during this period, I had 2 training sessions of 6 months. The first working for Beechams in their Research Department in Worthing and then in the Pharmacy Department at Torbay Hospital, Torquay. After 4 years at Bradford I gained an Honours Degree in Pharmacy. My first role after qualifying was with Boots in Bristol as a relief pharmacist, and then as Manager of 2 stores in Bristol. Whilst here, I met my wife Judith, who also worked for Boots. After 7/8 years, we felt that perhaps our future lay in a move away from Boots and began looking at Pharmacies throughout South West England, were some 2 years later we came across the Tidworth pharmacy owned by Mr Warner. In 1985 we bought the pharmacy in Station Road and have lived in Tidworth with our 2 sons ever since, initially above the shop and then moving to Manor Bridge Court when it was first built. During my first year in Tidworth I was asked to join South Tidworth Parish Council and have been part of Tidworth Councils since then, from South Tidworth Parish Council to Tidworth Parish Council eventually Tidworth Town Council. In 1992 we bought a second Pharmacy in Ludgershall, with both pharmacies subsequently moving to be adjacent to their town’s health centres. Owning a business does not leave much spare time however I am involved in local Pharmacy politics in Wiltshire. My other interests include astronomy, science, science fiction and football (I have supported Bournemouth since I was 10!) and enjoy relaxing whilst watching the TV.
